Global Youth Service Day

Established in 1988, Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) celebrates and mobilizes the millions of young people who improve their communities through service. GYSD is celebrated each year in more than 135 countries, with young people working together to address the world’s most critical issues and change their communities.

Join the Movement.  GYSD is the largest service event in the world and the only one dedicated to the contributions that children and youth make 365 days of the year.

Get Started.  Find your cause and take action.  With thousands of organizations and service projects to choose from, you’re bound to find something you and your friends can participate in.

Log Your L4S Hours.  During the month of April, any 15 or more volunteer service hours logged in HOBY’s L4S website will also count towards a certificate from our partner, Youth Service America (YSA), who hosts GYSD.  Detailed instructions on how to log your hours can be found here.  To obtain your L4S username and password, please email L4S@hoby.org with the subject “L4S Log In” and the following information: your full name, date of birth, and full name of your high school.

Show Us Your #HOBY Smile.  Be proud and post about your volunteer experience!  Wear your HOBY t-shirt to your volunteer service and share lots of photos. Don’t forget to tag #HOBY and #GYSD.
