HOBY Dallas Gala – Albert Schweitzer Leadership Awards on November 6th, 2019

HOBY is celebrating outstanding leadership with our Albert Schweitzer Leadership Awards Gala in Dallas, Texas on November 6th at 6pm. Each year the Albert Schweitzer Leadership Awards recognizes leaders in diverse areas of human endeavor and supports fundraising efforts that sustain HOBY programs, which provide young people with leadership development opportunities throughout the world.

This year, the Gala will be held at the beautiful Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in the Rosine Hall. Catered by Chef Darren McGrady, former chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana & Princes’ William & Harry, you won’t want to miss a chance at auction items like a meal catered by the former Royal Chef himself, VIP tickets to the NBC’s The Voice Finale, tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood, and more to cap off an incredible autumnal evening.

We’re pleased to present Ryan Binkley, President, and CEO of Generational Equity Group with HOBY’s highest honor, the Albert Schweitzer Leadership Award. Ryan provides leadership for the strategic direction and oversight over all of the Generational Group business divisions which offer M&A Service, Business Valuation, Exit Planning, and Wealth Advisory. In addition to selling over 800companies in its history, Generational Group won Investment Banking Firm of the Year in 2016, 2017 & 2018 joining other high-profile recognitions such as being twice named Valuation Firm of the Year by The M&A Advisor and being awarded M&A Consulting Firm of the Year on two occasions.

Generational Group also serves as the title sponsor for “Here’s Life Africa” Golf Tournament which serves Uganda and Tanzania, “The Salute” Golf Tournament which benefits our nation’s heroes and veterans, and the “MAVS foundation” through their title sponsorship of the Generational Jingle Bell Run which benefits the youth of Dallas. He and his wife, Ellie, are also the Founding and Lead Pastors of Create Church which they planted over five years ago. This is a multicultural Christian church with a mission to help people find and fulfill their created purpose in Christ. Whether it’s in business or in ministry, Ryan’s passion is to help inspire people to live out their lives as a legacy for the next generation.

This evening we’re also proud to award Milagros Muñoz with HOBY’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Milagros means miracles in Spanish, and to everyone that meets her, it’s a perfect fit. Despite struggles and disadvantages, Milagros went from just “another EnglishLanguage Learner student” to a powerful inspiration to students older and younger than her. After attending her HOBY Seminar, Milagros started a project to help English Language Learner students grow to their maximum potential in the Spring Independent School District. She’s led the way for those who hope to become more than what is expected.

Additionally, Milagros wanted to do something about the dropout rate related to teen pregnancy. Obstacles like childcare, financial strain and the need for time off often keep students who become young parents from graduating.  So she started a “Baby Drive” in Spring ISD to provide teen parents with the tools necessary for early parenthood. She stays in touch with students who have to miss school for pregnancy-related reasons so they stay connected to their classmates and focused on graduating. Milagros also coordinates communication with their teachers brings the students she serves their assignments so they don’t fall behind and offers tutoring for those that need it. In the short time that Milagros has been running this program, has seen an increase in the number of teen parents who graduate from ISD. Milagros has and continues to be what we always need in our lives, a miracle.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of last year’s attendees, we were able to give 60 Dallas area students in need scholarshipsto attend a State Leadership Seminar in Texas. Two Dallas area students were also awarded scholarships plus airfare to attend HOBY’sWorldLeadership Congress in Chicago. Our goal is to sponsor event more students this year, and we hope that you’ll support us in this.
